Heather has worked as an impact strategy and measurement consultant for over a decade, supporting changemakers across the social and international development landscape. Her work has included monitoring, evaluation and learning consultancy including independent evaluation, the development of MEL frameworks, strategic plans, tools and capacity building for civil society organizations, private sector organisations, international NGOs and global networks across four continents. Heather’s consultancy draws on her own prior experience working within social and community development organisations. She has experience across a range of thematic areas including youth empowerment, gender equity and socio-economic inclusion. Heather’s work is heavily influenced by a background in anthropological research. Having worked for several years in the field of Social Enterprise, Heather’s experience provides insights into key issues and complexities of economic empowerment, as well as organisational development and leadership.

A bit about Heather

Heather Ridout is an inFocus Associate and Co-Founder of Beeconomics in Brazil with extensive experience in the evaluation and M&E support particularly in the areas of youth empowerment and youth anti-violence. For inFocus, Heather provides evaluation, training and capacity building services, the aim of which is to improve the performance of social impact-based organisations and Heather has worked on projects for a wide range of clients globally. Beeconomics is focused on youth inclusion for marginalised young people who are high risk for involvement in illicit employment, which is a strong trigger for inter-youth violence. It provides training and transitional employment for marginalised and at -risk young people. Heather was previously a founding member and on the steering committee of ENOUGH!, a coalition which sought to respond to the overwhelming issue of youth violence in South London. Heather speaks English and Portuguese and holds an MA in applied linguistics.
