FAQs
Yes – this course includes two FIM e-learning modules that you can access at any time, access to the Introduction to Impact Measurement webinar (run multiple times per year), AND access to our four-week Tutorials and Practicals webinar series (also run multiple times per year). All of these sessions will be fully virtual so that you can access them from anywhere.
How long the course takes to complete depends on your availability, what you want out of the training and how many hours a week you plan to spend on the material. However, the course is designed to be digested at your own pace and in a fully flexible manner. Hence you have continuous access for a full year to space it out across, but if you’re keen, you might complete it during the first month! You might also choose to just dip in and out of certain parts, depending upon your needs. The different components will require varying amounts of your time – the e-Learning modules, the intro webinar, and the live group tutorials and practicals.
The FIM course contains 1-2 hours of e-Learning material as well as the included guides and supplemental materials. We would recommend you anticipate it taking 2-3 hours total to take full advantage of all the course has to offer. If you decide to upgrade, the CIM course contains 10-12 additional hours of e-Learning and materials.
Absolutely! Signing up for the FIM course gains you FREE access to the Introductory Webinar AND to any of our Tutorials (x4) and Practicals (x4) sessions through this special partner-sponsored membership. Just login with your FIM credentials and sign up!
You can learn more about CoPiloting here. The CoPilot Discovery session consists of a 30 minute call with an MEL expert (included for FREE with both courses). The MEL Health Check (included only with a CIM course membership) includes some offline work by an inFocus Consultant reviewing background materials and documentation supplied by you and related to a development task. This is usually followed by a 30-minute information, advice and guidance session with you to guide your next steps. See here for more details about the Health Check.
The FIM course is free forever! No bait and switch tactics here. You can sign up for the FIM e-Learning course and access it whenever works for you. Whether you plan to go through it quickly or your availability is limited and you’ll need to take your time completing the material, it is there for you to use whenever you are able and you will never be charged. We will send you some information about the CIM (Complete Impact Manager) course while you engage with the FIM (Foundations in Impact Management) course in case you’d like to engage in further learning once you finish with FIM, but you never have to upgrade or pay a dime if you don’t want to. And through this special FIM membership, you’ll also have access to the Tutorials and Practicals sessions for a full year to take advantage of those training opportunities!
The Foundations in Impact Management (FIM) course is perfect for anyone who is just starting out in the world of MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning). The FIM course lays a strong foundation complete with integral concepts and important frameworks, tools and methods for conducting data collection and analysis and transforming that into learning and improvement.
If you’re looking for a more robust training option that will equip you with everything you need to know to design and implement MEL, check out our CIM course.
