Matthew is a seasoned Senior Evaluation and Learning Consultant known for his insightful and analytical approach to programme evaluation. Trained in psychology and organisational psychology, Matthew’s work is anchored in a deep understanding of human behaviour, cognition, and performance. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree and an Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Cape Town. He further honed his skills by completing a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Programme Monitoring & Evaluation, where his research earned him distinction. In his past role as Director at Alacrity Development, Matthew led a variety of experimental and quasi-experimental evaluations in sub-Saharan Africa. His contributions have been published in esteemed journals, including Early Education and Development and Child Care Health and Development, and his work continues to influence the field. Matthew’s expertise extends across advanced statistical analysis, programme theory and plausibility, and research methodology for evaluation. Recognised for his commitment and excellence, Matthew has received several accolades, including appointments to South Africa’s National Advisory Council on Innovation and the Umalusi Council’s Assessment Standards Committee.
